Introduction of El Goli Park

El Goli Park (Shah Goli) is one of the beautiful tourist attractions of Tabriz. This Park is located on a hillside in the southeast of Tabriz. In the middle of its pool, there is an octagonal building with two floors. This building is known as El Goli Palace. Its Building is currently used as a restaurant. Of course, the current structure of this building is not the same as its original structure.

The building of this place was originally made of brick. Then, this building demolished in 1967 and replaced by a new building. The eighth son of Abbas Mirza, expanded this park and turned it into a royal promenade for the Qajar courtiers. During the revolution, the people set fire to it, then changed its name and rebuilt it.

History of El Goli Park

The initial construction of its pool is attributed to the time of the kings of Aq Quyunlu and its development to the Safavid era. The pool construction was later in the form of a beautiful royal resort by order of the hero Mirza. He repaired the foundation of this 200.200-meter pool and built a beautiful two-story building in the middle of it. From the middle of the east coast of the its pool to the place of the park, he built a passage. At the foot of the high eastern mountain of the pool, he built wide and tidy platforms and stairs.

He also created streams and waterfalls at a certain distance and decided to build palace for himself. But he died in the middle of the construction of it. So, this attraction was abandoned. Since then, its pool used as a reservoir to irrigate the city’s farms and gardens in the summer.

This recreational place repaired and rebuilt many times until it acquired by Tabriz Municipality in 1930. Tabriz Municipality tried to construct a new building on the site of the old ruined El Goli Park in the middle of the pool. In 1988, this place beautified with green space and planting flowers. Lake of El Goli Park

El Goli Park has a large square pool with an area of ​​54,675 square meters. In the south, there is a hill that is stepped from top to bottom, level with the pool and the water stream flows down from it. The water of Lake is supplied by one of the Liqvan rivers. Rivers passes near the village of Chavan, and enters it in the form of a stream from the southeast side of the lake. In winter, the water of lake freezes and gives a different view to its surroundings. During this time, the fish that live in the water cannot reach the upper part of the water and as a result, their growth process becomes slower.

With the help of experts from the Statistics and Information Technology Organization of Tabriz Municipality, a wireless internet service was established for the use of tourists and citizens of Tabriz in it. The technical deputy of the Statistics and Information Technology Organization laid the groundwork for this service in this recreational place. Within 10 days two transmitters, each was installed in a radius of 300 meters on the east and south sides of it.

It is the first park with a web-based information and introduction kiosk in Iran. The first intelligent information center in the country has been built in the historical and recreational complex of El Goli. This center includes 4 information kiosks that are located in a special glass room. These kiosks offer various information including history and descriptions about the ancient park.
