History Hasht Bihisht
Hasht Bihisht palace was built in 1659 in Safavid dynasty (King Suleiman). All eight paradises used to be part of the Naghsh-e Jahan, but now only the Nightingale Garden remains which is located in the middle of the palace. King Suleiman, after ordering the construction of Hasht Bihisht, established it in the third year of his reign. Some historians and scholars have written in their writings about the reason for the construction of this building that Shah Suleiman built Hasht Bihisht to accommodate the eight sweethearts of the king.
During the Qajar period, Nasser al-Din Shah gave the mansion to the great lady Iftikhar al-Dawla. Nasser al-Din Shah’s daughter maintains the mansion greatly. Hasht Bihisht later fell to the Qajri heirs, and many of his paintings and plasterwork were destroyed. After this, other governments did not take good care of the palace, and for this reason, some of the palace’s paintings and monuments have been destroyed due to sabotages.
